Grade 3 Revolution

A “Soulful Grandma” in a dedicated brigade arrives with music, literature and is prepared to “induct” the children into life long service as Captains of Kindness.  They even have their own secret salute!

Each classroom receives:
A Soulful Grandma (maybe two!) to play music and read Soulful Sydney Explores Diversity.  It’s a fun to read adventure that rhymes and has a powerful message of inclusion.

There is an interactive question and answer time and then the children are given the opportunity to join the REVOLUTION!   Becoming a Captain of Kindness in the Inclusion Revolution requires SEVEN key duties.  Once they go through “Officer Training” they are “inducted” and receive their salute, their sticker badge and their leadership booklet.

Teachers enjoy the event because we leave behind a plush dog that reminds the children to “stop being mean and snappy.”  In addition, we gift  the music, the Soulful Sydney Explores Diversity book,  and a  large mural coloring sheet that becomes a group project.  Each child receives an Official Officer Certificate contained in a beautiful book they can keep.   There are additional activities that teachers can utilize in the days after the presentation to remind them of the lessons they learned and their commitment to kindness.

There is a common core curriculum guide and follow up activities in poetry and a lesson in the power of WORDS!

The presentation will run for approximately 90 minutes.
